Debs, 5:58. The reason there hasn’t been any elections in Gaza for 18 years (not 10), is because when they were going to hold elections a couple years ago, the PA (mostly Fatah), pulled the plug on having elections, because they knew that Hamas would regain Gaza, and had also grown in voting numbers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Other than that, yeah, very good point.

That is an excellent example of the sense of entitlement have.

These "students" are making fuck-all difference where they currently study, so why not encourage them to broaden their entitled horizons and relocate to somewhere they can actually make a difference?

I'm sure the appropriate flights can be arranged.

An Iranian university has offered to take on any suspended or expelled students. I say let them go in their droves and let them see what they purport to stand for. I’m sure they’ll be glad to see how Iran treats women, LGBT, Christians or basically anyone who dares utter a word against the regime.

Very good example Mike. HAMAS will be pleased they aren't bound by anything like the ECHR which covers the right to free snd fair elections, I don't think they've let one be held for about 10 years.

The vote itself was fair, the campaigning should always be a stark.reminder how we should never trust any politicians over constitutional issues.

Re: Hamas attack Israel
Did Hamas convince Gazaians that voting for them was "in their best interests"?

May well have been in the best intersts of Hamas & their puppet masters, but as things are playing out in the real world, not in the best interests of those who voted.

All except the ignorant understood what Brexit was about; those that saw it as the end of the line for their personal gravy train were, naturally, pissed off and let everybody know.

Re: Hamas attack Israel
So basically Debs your a remoaner who can't get over a very fair and democratic vote with Brexit..
Move on FFS!

Darlo Debs 5:23 Thu May 2
Re: Hamas attack Israel
Whu I maybe should have worded that differently. It's not about letting people vote to take our rights away, more that it shouldn't even be on the table as an option for various reasons.

We saw with how the Brexit referendum was conducted people will be lied to by very rich powerful people and large sections of the media and be told to dismiss what experts are telling them...and before you know it unscrupulous government's will just be able to do what they want. The stakes are too high to let our human rights be risked in this way. Too many would be convinced by antidemocratic forces to vote against their own best interests. The prospect is terrifying
.

Re: Hamas attack Israel
Debs, do you genuinely think that people like twoleftfeet should have their votes taken away, simply because they have a different opinion than you?

The fact that you’ve managed to come out with that, in the same post as you’re also slagging off ‘authoritarianism’ is staggering.
